Decimation is a simple and fun roguelike based around arithmetic. You are 0, and must perform calculations on other numbers to bring them to zero too. Since your attacks are arithmetic operations they will have different effects depending on the numbers hit. The other numbers you face have different speeds, visibility ranges and attack powers based on their exact number, so there are tactics in how to deal with each of them effectively.
The basic gameplay of Decimation is incredibly fun, with strategy based entirely around in-your-head calculations. However the gameplay is unfortunately brief, since there?s only one level and it?s incredibly easy. Upon killing enemies you gain around half your hp back, and there seems to be a bug in the game that can make your hp go way over triple the usual limit. Since the enemies are generally easy enough to deal with anyway it makes the average game last about 40 seconds. This is one game that could heavily do with far more content, even if it?s just the same level repeated ad infinitum, since the simple but fun gameplay would be very long-lasting.
The game is very well-presented, with a smooth interface and simple controls (only the numpad!) For this reason it might be nice to actually see a real-time version of this to increase the difficulty, since you?d be forced to make quick decisions based on dodgy calculations. With that and more (and harder) levels this could be a really fantastic little game.
