The future is coming and I, too, welcome our new robot overlords.
The point I took away from this talk is that is the future is going to require a well educated populous. As we become a technology heavy and labor light economy education will be the difference between the haves and the have-nots, between the Teds and the Bills. And for the sake of the Bills measures like a guaranteed minimal lifestyle will be important as well. What this talk didn’t go into, maybe because it didn’t have time, was that the ubiquity of knowledge it will matter less where you went to school and more what you did with the knowledge that is at everyone’s fingertips all the time.
So do something. Make something. Make a new video game, make a new board game, make a new toy, make a new movie, make a blog, make a video series, make something. Show what you can do and doors will open for you. And that’s the truth.
