Money raised in less than 24 hours. You guys are the awesome-est.
I wish I had a good excuse to solicit for more donations. Travel expenses if I’m invited to attend? Allow me to afford a day off work so I can program the game some more? Ooh, that’s a good one. For every $200 raised I’ll take a day off work and commit 8 hours to the site and the game. Or if you can think of any other reason to support Cymon’s Games the donate button is still there.
I need your help. Last week I wanted to explore the possibility of sending ASCIIpOrtal to IGF. Unfortunately IGF has an entry fee and I’m strapped. I think ASCIIpOrtal needs to be at IGF to raise the point that:
- Flashy graphics do not make great games.
- Innovation does not require an art degree.
- Anyone can make games.
I’ve got until Halloween to raise the money. If by Halloween I’ve got the $95 entry fee in my paypal account then on the morning of November 1st (the deadline for IGF) ASCIIpOrtal is in. If not… well, you know I’ll put it to good use.

In related news, ASCIIpOrtal 1.1 is out, so download the update. It’s better this time, I promise.

Yeah, that was the other thing, the reason why I didn’t do this earlier last week. I was gonna, but then I saw everyone else doing it. I thought, maybe if I waited my plea won’t be drowned out in everyone else’s.

EDIT: However, I may need to raise another $95 if I want to enter it into both categories. I’m waiting to find out because I hate having to make up my mind.Entering the student competition is free. So ASCIIpOrtal is good to go.Please, feel free to continue supporting Cymon’s Games and future ASCIIpOrtal development, should you feel so inclined. I won’t deny you.
Now I have a problem. Should I submit it to the student showcase which has fewer categories but I have a better chance of winning something, or the main competition where I’ll be up against the big boys in more categories.
