For a little while I’ve got a focus on ASCIIpOrtal. Can’t help it. I’ve got a few other things on the back burner, but the keep demanding more time than I have. So while I percolate those things you can help me ponder what I’m going to add to the next release of ASCIIpOrtal.

Mouse aiming w/left & right mouse buttons to shoot the two portal colors. I don’t get along so well with the default controls.

basically i have to choose between the windowed mode, which is a real pain for my eyes on a 1280 * 1024 screen resolution or the fullscreen-mode, wich switches the screen resolution of all my monitors down to a for me useless mode. the advanced problem is, that i have to re-arrange all of my programs to their screen position, after colosing ASCIIportal. some of the windows, wich belong to the first monitor are on the second one, all are resized, its just ugly.

that is why i suggest an option to zoom into ASCIIportal. when in maximized mode this would be a good way to see the details good and as big or as small the player needs this. the best way to anjust the zoom level would be the wheel of a scroll mouse. in adition the keys “+” and “-” (if not used in another way) may also help to some players.

in addition, because i also have read the forum, here some other ideas for some more fun:

a second portal, which may be shot through an existing portal, so if one has the blue-yellow portal opened he may open a red-green (or whatever you choose) portal on any other place, including to shot the portal-bullet through the non-compatible portal.

adding a sign for the next color and the actual direction on the player-icon.

adding a gravity-gun to pick up things and drop them anywhere.

some side levels would also be nice. the player goes through a door (not the exit) and gehts into another room. if he changes something there it may affect the main level.

when the portal cannot be seen by the user, an arrow, that would point into it in the respective color would help.

    home, my ideas help.
