I’m as much a fan of technology as the next guy. No, scratch that. I’m a bigger fan than most. But even I can’t deny that sometimes it’s not an improvement. I mean a soda fountain with 200 choices is cool, but have you seen the line for that thing everywhere it is? Maybe it would have been better just to stick with something simpler.
Sometimes the best interface is no interface.

I realized those things would be a bottleneck the moment I heard about them. With the old system, several people could get drinks at once. New system, one at a time. And with more choices, the user is only slowed down.
