Too much of anything….

July 20th, 2009

Getting slashdotted on Wednesday had less of an effect on this site than getting BoingBoinged, Kotakued, TIGSourced, and a couple othersed all on the Tuesday a week before that. But being slashdotted may have been the straw that broke the camels back. Either way the shear amount of bandwidth eaten up by the attention forced a cool down period. I’d like to again that Devin, praise him for his work in this time, and point you to his own post-mortem about the experience.

The down time delayed this weeks program from the normal Friday post to today. So now you can check out Mutant Ape. If you ever played a top-down-mouse-to-aim-key-to-move game (or TDMTAKTM for short) and wanted to make your own, well, here’s one and the code to get you started.

ASCIIpOrtal is progressing nicely. I’ve been working on it a little every day. At this point I have menus, a new text triggers, new levels, cool sounds which aren’t in the game yet, but I have them, and a ton of bugs marked “fixed”. The biggest complaint I’ve gotten so far from the beta team is that the levels in the beta are too hard. Well no kiddin’. You want that fixed, then fix it. Been getting some absolutely mind blowing maps that turn switches and boulders into infernal machines, which is exactly what I wanted when I put them in there.

Not that you can see that unless you’re in the beta.

But trust me, when it goes live all yawl’s in for a treat. Several in fact. For instance:

Here’s the GlaDOS chatter so you can hear it clearer. Isn’t that cool?
