It’s funny, but smaller aspects of my bigger projects tend to be more popular than their parent work. Like ASCIIpOrtal really was just a text-based game that came about because of Cymon’s Games in general. more recently my Sexy Unboxing video quickly surpassed in views the video it was a clip from. Well, here’s another one I expect to generate more buzz than it’s source material.
What you see below is a small step in a process of teaching people to program that is progressing (slowly) on the forums: Learning to program by writing a text Adventure. Step 1 (from the book): let’s play a simple game. Step 2: Let’s start writing a game. And yet I expect this to be way more popular than the tutorial.
There are, admittedly, a few issues marring the experience, and I plan to do a “How I’d do it again if I had it to do over” sort of video next, but the idea at the very least has some potential.
I hope everyone enjoys it.

Joe, you’ve out done yourself… again. I cannot figure out for the life of me how you are able to raise a family, work full-time and maintain such wonderful hobbies. I am quite envious.
Keep up the good work ’cause in a couple years I am going to need an easy to follow teacher for my son (2 years old) to learn programming from.
